WHAT MAKES A GREAT LIVERPOOL BEATLES WALKING TOUR?

The Beatles are arguably Liverpool’s biggest export and the city today has so much to offer the casual Beatles fans as well as those who come from all over the world simply to tread in the footsteps of John, Paul, George and Ringo.

And speaking of footsteps, one of the best ways to see and experience the Beatles in Liverpool is on foot on a Liverpool Beatles walking tour. And there is not only one way of doing this.

We’ve put together a list of our favourite Liverpool Beatles walking tours in the city (with links on where to book) including city centre walks and self-guided walks in the suburbs.

1) BEST PUBLIC LIVERPOOL BEATLES WALKING TOUR

Create Your Own Tour: Best Liverpool Tours

Any visit to Liverpool should include a tour of the Beatles. And the choice is huge – taxi tours, minivan experiences, boat trips. A great way to get an understanding is on foot, however, and will also give you great insight into the city itself!

Take in all of the Beatles city centre highlights on this public or private walking tour including several Beatles-related statues, the fabulous Mathew Street with Cavern Club, Music Walk of Fame and Eric’s as well as some of the great pubs and music locations where the Beatles frequented.

One of the best public tours available is through Brit Music Tours and their Beatles Liverpool Walking Tour which starts at only £15 per adult and operates every Saturday & Sunday at 10:00h from outside (the stunning) Liverpool Central Library.

2) SELF-GUIDED LIVERPOOL BEATLES WALKING TOUR FROM STRAWBERRY FIELD

Best Liverpool Beatles Walking Tours

If you’re looking to explore further afield, then we suggest taking the hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus to the Southern suburbs of Liverpool.

Here you will be able to experience Penny Lane (and that famous sign!) as well as Strawberry Field, Woolton village (Eleanor Rigby’s grave and more) and the beautiful Calderstones Park.

One of the latest attractions to enter Liverpool is the hybrid & technology-based hop-on hop-off walking tour experience developed by Vox Group (named Vox City Walks) and operated locally by Experience North Ltd.

The new experience also offers self-guided walks in areas of the city not always frequented often and brings a new dimension to Beatles sites in these. One of those self-guided walks is a roundtrip of around 1 hour from/to Strawberry Field, taking in Woolton village with the famous Eleanor Rigby grave, beautiful church and location where John Lennon met Paul McCartney for the first time. Additionally, you also have the option to walk past John Lennon’s childhood home and some other smaller highlights of Beatles’ interest.

The tickets for Vox City Walks come in packages of 24, 48 and 72 hours for 2 hop-on hop-off walking tours in the city centre as well as 4 self-guided walks around Beatles, all things football and the cathedrals of Liverpool. Overall, we feel, fantastic value tickets starting at £15 per person. You can even buy combo tickets with the above mentioned City Explorer sightseeing bus!

3) CRUISE SHORE EXCURSION BEATLES WALKING TOUR

Liverpool Cruise Terminal is placed ideally for passengers getting off the cruise ship! The terminal is right in the heart of the city making it easy for guests to meet their local expert and join a Beatles walking tour.

When thinking about what to do near Liverpool Cruise Terminal, any real Scouser would suggest a trip to one of the most photographed areas of the city- the Beatles Statue at the Pier Head! So step off your cruise ship and your local guide will be waiting for you right inside the cruise terminal to show off fantastic Liverpool, birthplace of Beatlemania!

At Liverpool Tour Company, we are happy to be as flexible as possible for you and create the perfect Beatles tour experience. The tour takes in several Beatles highlights in the city centre:

  • Beatles Statue at Pier Head
  • Town Hall where Beatles were honoured as Freeman of the City
  • Cavern Quarter
  • Visit to Cavern Club where Beatles played 292 times
  • Eleanor Rigby & John Lennon statues

The tour lasts around 2.5 hours and starts at £195 per group. You can book this Liverpool Beatles walking tour right here on our website.
